Artist Profile

John McKee (1941 - )  is a senior Canadian artist listed in Who's Who in Canada. He holds a B.A. and M.F.A. in painting and taught drawing, painting, sculpture and art history for 8 years at the university level.  John has worked as an art consultant and has been a full-time studio artist since 1978, with sellout shows in Toronto, Vancouver and  Edmonton.  His work has been presented in art exhibitions in Chicago and Los Angeles.

Russell Bingham, curator of the 1985 Edmonton Art Gallery Exhibition of McKee's work, stated ...

"The personality that shows through McKee's work is a restrained thoughtfulness, and a unique kind of visual intelligence.  This is perhaps most apparent in the wonderful way he depicts deep space, the way he orders it with a logic that never becomes pedantic. ... It requires a special kind of visualizing, of seeing the land as an arrangement of subtly differentiated masses."

The painting is important because it develops a new level of appreciation and  sensitivity to atmospheric light.  John is a mature senior artist.  You will find any of his landscape paintings a unique and valuable addition to your art collection.
